Margaret A. Farrow was an American Republican politician who served in both chambers of the state legislature and as the 42nd Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin (the first woman to hold the office). Margaret was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on November 28, 1934, and attended Rosary College in River Forest, Illinois, for a year before graduating with a B.A. from Marquette University.
She previously served on the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System. Farrow served on the Elm Grove, Wisconsin Board of Appeals from 1971 to 1974, as well as the Village Board from 1976 to 1987, including five years as president.

Margaret Farrow, Wisconsin’s former Lieutenant Governor, passed away at the age of 87. Farrow’s son, Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow, stated as much in a press release on Tuesday, March 8.
Paul said his mother passed away quietly on Tuesday morning at her home in Pewaukee, accompanied by her husband, John Farrow, and two sons.
Paul Farrow comments, “I feel privileged and blessed to have been nurtured by one of my personal idols.”
“Mom has left us with a legacy of positive values that will help us all grow as citizens and individuals. Her convictions, morality, and strength have inspired me to serve our community in a way that she would be proud of in my life and job. I can’t convey how grateful I am to be Margaret Farrow’s son or how much I shall miss her.” Paul went on to say.
“She was a political grande dame from the Republican Party. And I always referred to her as Wisconsin’s Margaret Thatcher.” Tommy Thompson, the president of the University of Wisconsin System and a former governor, remarked.
Mark Neumann backed Farrow as the most capable opponent for Democrat Russ Feingold in the 2004 election.

Margaret Farrow and her husband, John Farrow, were married. She and her husband met when they were both students at Marquette University and have been married for 65 years.
John worked as an engineer in the Navy, and the couple moved about a lot before settling in Elm Grove in 1967.
John eventually became an emeritus professor at the Milwaukee School of Engineering after joining the engineering faculty at Marquette. The couple is currently residing in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.
They have five children, including twins, whom she considers her greatest achievement, and they all live in Wisconsin.
John, the eldest, works for GE Healthcare; Bill is a professor at MSOE; and Peter, the younger twin, is the CEO of Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire. Mark, the youngest twin, is a technology consultant at Chortek LLP, a business services consultancy, and Paul, the younger twin, is Waukesha County executive and a former state politician.
Paul, their son, went to Waukesha County Technical College and Carroll University. He was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2010.
He was elected to the Wisconsin State Senate in December 2012 to replace Senator Rich Zipperer, who resigned to take a job with the Governor’s office.
