Coimbatore Institute of Technology is a government-aided autonomous engineering college located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded in 1956 by V. Rangaswamy Naidu Educational Trust. It is affiliated to Anna University. CIT is one of the most reputed and prestigious educational institutions in India. The Institute backed by World Class research and development over the years attained autonomous status in 1987. CIT offers seven UG, nine PG, four Integrated MSc and nine PhD programmes. Apart from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, VRET also started CIT Sandwich Polytechnic College in 1961. The institute aims to provide students with extra exposure through various clubs and committees. The students are provided with a platform in order to be engaged in environmental as well as humanitarian activities. There are total of 20 clubs in music, nature, art, women empowerment cells, photography, film, karate, nature, rotaract, quiz, NSS, dramatics and so on .
