Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University is a state university in Guwahati, Assam, India. It was established by the Assam Legislative Assembly by Act XXXVII of 2005 in 2005. The Act received the assent from the Governor on the same year. The University was established with the purpose of promoting education to reach the unreached through the Open and Distance Learning System, with the motto of the University ‘Education Beyond Barriers’ of age, academic background and geographical boundaries. Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) is the first state open university to be located in the northeast. The university provides admission to around 40 academic programmes in humanities, science and social science. KKHSOU starts online admission process for various courses Master’s Degree (MA, MCom, MBA), Bachelor’s Degree (BA, BCA, BCom, BBA, BSW), Post Graduate Diploma Course and various Diploma & Certificate courses for the year 2023-2024

Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University – KKHSOU – Eligibility Criteria

BA: Class 12 or equivalent examination in any stream from a recognised board/ council

BCom, BBA, BCA, BSW: Class 12 or equivalent examination in any stream from a recognised board/ council

MA: Bachelor’s degree from KKHSOU or any other university recognised by UGC

MBA: BBA or equivalent degree from a recognised university

MCom: BCom or its equivalent degree from a recognised university

M.Sc IT:  candidate must be graduated (BCA / B.Sc IT/B.SC Computer Science) with mathematics at 10+2 level or at graduate level.

Diploma : Class 10+2 or equivalent examination passed in any stream from a board/ council recognized by UGC or Three-year Diploma passed from polytechnic in any branch

PhD:  A applicant must hold a Master’s degree with at least 55% overall marks, which equates to a grade of “B” on the UGC’s 7-point scale, or a comparable degree from a foreign educational institution that has been approved by an assessment and accreditation agency.

M.Phil:  Candidates with a master’s degree or a professional degree that has been recognized as being equivalent to a master’s degree, with a minimum cumulative percentage of 55% are eligible for an M.Phil.

To help the deserving and meritorious students in financial terms, Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University offers financial assistance through several scholarships. Scholarship for female Civil Service Aspirants: Women candidates who successfully clear the Civil Service (Preliminary) examinations conducted by UPSC are offered the scholarship. Five women candidates are offered INR 1,00,000/- as a scholarship.
