West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board conducts the common entrance test to offer admission into Undergraduate Courses in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture in Universities, Govt. Colleges and Self-Financed Institutes across the State. This post explains who are eligible to WBJEE, how to apply, syllabus of exam and format of question paper. WBJEE Eligibility Criteria

Here are the prescribed criteria for taking upcoming WBJEE:

Citizenship: Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.

Age Criteria: Students must attain an age of 17 years as on 31st December of the year of admission. No upper age criteria prescribed by the concerned authority.

Minimum Education:

For engineering programmes:

  • Candidates should have passed the 10+2 exam with Mathematics and Physics along with any one of Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application/Technical Vocational Subject as compulsory subjects. They should have passed each subject individually including theory & practical.
  • They should have attained at least 45% marks (40% for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in the three subjects together.
  • Candidates should pass English with at least 30% marks.

For Pharmacy courses:

  • Candidates should have passed 10+2 exam with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Biology as compulsory subjects. They should have passed each subject individually
  • They should have attained at least 45% marks (40% for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in the three subjects together.
  • Candidates should pass English with at least 30% marks.

How to Apply for WBJEE?

Candidates can obtain WBJEE application from the official website of WBJEEB only i.e. www.wbjeeb.nic.in. There is no printed form of application available. It is compulsory to have mobile and unique email ID in order to register and fill application form. Please note registration details like name, father’s name, mother’s name, gender and date of birth once submitted won’t be altered. Do not attempt to submit duplicate application.

Upload scanned copies of your signature and photograph and make payment of application fee. Don’t forget to keep copies of confirmation page and admit card in safe custody.

Pay Examinational Fees

The prescribed application fee is Rs.700 for General category candidate and Rs.500 for C/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates. The fee can be paid using debit card/credit card/net banking. The fee once paid won’t be refunded back.

WBJEE Exam Pattern

Candidates need to appear for two papers in West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam and they are as follows:

  • Paper I(Mathematics)
  • Paper 2(Physics & Chemistry)

All questions will be multiple-choice questions with four options against each of the question.

Questions need to be answered on specially designed optical machine-readable response (OMR) sheet with blue/black ball point pen.

Scoring Method

Question Type Marking Methodology
Category I Only one option is correct.
1 mark awarded for every correct attempt
-1/4 will be deducted for every incorrect response.
Category II Only one option is correct.
2 mark awarded for every correct attempt
-1/2 will be deducted for every incorrect response.
Category III One or more options may be correct.
Only correct response will award 2 marks.
Any combination of correct and wrong response will be treated as incorrect and will yield 0 (zero) mark.

  • Chemistry: Atoms, Chemistry of Metals, Molecules and Chemical Arithmetic, Atomic Structure, Periodic Table and Chemical Families, Coordination Compounds, States Of Matter, Polymers, Hydrogen etc
  • Physics: Physical World, Measurements, Thermodynamics, Units & Dimensions, Oscillations & Waves, Kinematics, Friction, Laws Of Motion, Gravitation, Current Electricity, Magnetism, etc
  • Mathematics: Algebra, Coordinate Geometry Of Two Dimensions, Trigonometry, Coordinate Geometry Of Three Dimensions, Calculus, Permutation & Combination, etc
