India’s Lockdown pushes jobless rate to 27.1%, survey says

CMIE report cites massive job losses, 1 in 4 employed lost job in March-April. According to this Report, Employment plunged in April after the government imposed a 40-day lockdown in a nation of 1.3 billion people. This major lockdown forces businesses to shut and this minimum work conditions pushing up the jobless rate to 27.1% in the week ended May.

Center for Monitoring Indian Economy said, Daily wage workers ( including include hawkers, roadside vendors ) and those employed by small businesses took a massive blow.
