Lime Water for Weight Loss

The benefits of using lime water for weight loss, and a simple recipe to use at home.

1. The lime is a delicious citrus fruit loaded with vitamin C. These are grown all year round and have some wonderful health benefits.

2. Limes are bright green and smaller in size than lemons. If you do not like the taste, you can use lemon instead, for both have the same nutritional value.

3. The Lime juice can prevent food cravings and has been shown to suppress the appetite.

4. Weight gain is often caused by acidity in the body. Limes and lemons work to balance the Ph. levels of the body, as they are an alkaline food.

5. You can drink water infused with lime on a daily basis for weight loss. This works well when used over the course of a week or two.

Recipe: Slice 4 limes very thinly. You will want to include the peel and the white part too, as these parts of the fruit have the most nutrients. Add these to a jug containing 2 litres of cold water. Stir the mixture well and let this sit in the refrigerator for 12 hours.

6. Drink this regularly throughout the day, especially when you are eating food. The live enzymes from the fruit break down proteins and carbohydrates in your stomach.

7. If you don’t have time to infuse your lime water, there is an alternative method. This includes making a lime tea with hot water.

Recipe: Slice 1 quarter of a lime and add to a cup of boiling water. Use a spoon to squeeze out the juices from within the lime. Drink this water with food at least 3 times per day.

8. Lime water or tea will also help in detoxifying the body of harmful toxins, bacteria and parasites.

9. This will stimulate the gastrointestinal tract, causing you to go to the toilet more often. For great health, you should have a bowel movement at least 2 times per day.

10. The lime tea described earlier will also help you if you have a cold or infection. You can sip this to help break down phlegm and kill bacteria in the body.

11. Vitamin C will boost your immune system. This will cure existing colds and help to prevent you from catching more.

12. Always use fresh limes or lemons. Bottled juices have been sterilized and no longer contain the live enzymes which your body needs.
