The plot premise looks interesting, the book it’s based on was a hit, the cast is extraordinary, the creation required years. This film is based on a book called the Moon and the Sun (1997) by Vonda N. McIntyre, joining both science fiction and historical sentiment genres. Fun reality: it won the Nebula Award for Best Novel, winning over Game of Thrones.
The plot is fun, the French settings are gorgeous and the entire sentiment/experience vibes. In the book, the King does not see the animal (who isn’t pretty) as human and therefore has no soul. The Head Chef wants to slaughter her and serve her as the primary presentation for his huge occasion feast to impress everybody, his large victory. There’s some truly profound moral questions in the book that this film was hesitant to pursue.
