Walnut Shells to Remove Plaque Tartar from Teeth

The benefits of using walnut shells on the teeth.

We all get dental plaque on our teeth. This is generally a white film which covers the teeth. This is caused by sugars in food. Sometimes when we brush, we miss some of this plaque and it begins to turn solid. This is usually seen as a yellow or brown colour. This is called tartar and can be hard to get rid of without a dentist. However, walnut shells can be used to treat this naturally.

Recipe: You will need: 30 grams Walnut Shells 200ml water

Method: Simply add the walnut shells to a pan, cover with water and boil for 15 minutes. Then pour this mixture into a cup and allow it to cool. Soak your toothbrush in this. Brush your teeth with this for at least 5 minutes. Do this 2-3 times per day for at least a week. Be sure to keep dipping the toothbrush into the solution as you brush, and do this for at least 1 week to remove tartar.

The walnut shell contains antibacterial compounds which help to destroy oral bacteria and break down plaque. If you were to let the tartar build up more on the teeth, the gums can become infected with bacteria, also known as gum disease. If unchecked, gum disease can cause you to lose teeth, so it’s best to take care of them in the long term. If you have bleeding gums, this natural remedy will soon cure the problem. We also recommend using a little extra virgin coconut oil on the teeth also, or for whitening use activated charcoal powder.
