Ameesha Patel is an Indian actress and model who is known for acting in Bollywood films. She has also appeared in a few Telugu films and one Tamil film. She was born on 9th June 1975 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India to Amit and Asha Patel. She has a brother Ashmit Patel. She learnt Bharatnatyam dance at the age of five. She studied at the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai, and then she headed to Tufts University in the United States to study Bio-genetic engineering, which she studied for two years and eventually switched to Economics.

Amisha started her career as an economic analyst at Khandwala Securities Limited after graduation. Later on, she received an offer from Morgan Stanley. After that, she joined the theatre and started modelling. Ameesha has also modelled for well-known Indian brands such as Bajaj, Fair & Lovely, Cadburys, Fem, Lux and many more.

Ameesha made her acting debut with the blockbuster movie Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai in 2000. Her performance in the film helped her to gain popularity and earned four awards and four nominations. In the same year, she made her Telugu debut with Badri.

• In April 2023, an FIR was filed against Ameesha by a social worker named Sunil Jain, for allegedly cheating the organizers of an event. According to the complaint, she charged around 4 lakh rupees for one hour’s performance, but she left after performing for 3 minutes. Later, Ameesha clarified that she left the event midway as she feared for her life.

• In August 2006, Ameesha created a controversy with an Air India employee, The Air India employee complained about Ameesha’s misconduct when her fellow member’s seat was not upgraded to first class on a Mumbai-New York flight on 18th August 2006. An organization invited Ameesha Patel to attend the annual parade of India’s Independence Day in New York. Later, the organizers of the parade made an apology to Air India and its employee and clarified the confusion.
