Ajay Singh Deol popularly known as Sunny Deol is an Indian actor, film director, producer, politician and current Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur (Lok Sabha constituency) of Punjab, India known for acting in Bollywood films. He was born on 19th October 1956 in Sahnewal, East Punjab, India to Dharmendra and Parkash Kaur. His father is a famous Bollywood actor. He has a younger brother actor Bobby Deol and two sisters Vijayta and Ajeeta. His stepmother is Bollywood’s famous actress Hema Malini. He has two paternal half-sisters, actress Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. Actor Abhay Deol is his cousin.

Sunny made his acting debut in the 1983 film Betaab. His performance was praised and he was nominated for best actor at Filmfare Awards. In 1984, Sunny appeared in three films, Manzil Manzil, Sohni Mahiwal and Sunny. In 1985, he had two releases, Arjun and Zabardast. His performance in Arjun was praised and helped him to earn the status as an action hero. He gained popularity. In 1986, Sunny starred in three films, Saveray Wali Gaadi, Sultanat, and Samundar. Dacait was his only released film in 1987. He was seen in four films in 1988, Paap Ki Duniya, Ram-Avtar, Yateem and Inteqam. He has seven releases in 1989. 1990 was a successful year for Sunny.
