A Jewish native of Boston, Pearl attended Sharon High School in Sharon, Massachusetts and is a 1982 graduate of Boston College, where he served as the manager of the men’s basketball team.

He is married to Brandy.

He has two daughters, Jacqui and Leah and two sons, Steven, who is now his assistant coach at Auburn, and Michael.

Bruce Pearl is the Head Coach for the Auburn Tigers Men’s Basketball Team.

Pearl assumed his position at Auburn in 2014 after a brief coaching hiatus (2011-2014), during which he was a college basketball analyst for ESPN.

In his time as head coach at Auburn, Pearl has led the Tigers to 70 wins, and in 2019, both a Southeastern Conference Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament where they made it to Auburn’s first-ever appearance in the Final Four.

Prior to joining ESPN, Pearl was the head coach at Tennessee for six years (2005-2011).

His team made the NCAA tournament all six years – three times in the Sweet 16 – setting a school record for consecutive appearances.

He was also the first coach to lead the Vol’s men’s basketball team to a national # 1 ranking.

Pearl was recognized as the Adolph Rupp National Coach of the Year in 2008 and was also named SEC Coach of the Year in both 2006 and 2008.

At the height of his career, Pearl received a three-year ban from coaching after holding a cookout attended by high school juniors – a violation of NCAA recruiting rules.

Owning up to his mistake, Pearl seized his chance at a comeback by accepting an analyst position with ESPN.

Bruce Pearl graduated from Boston College where he served as the manager of the men’s basketball team.

He coached at UW-Milwaukee, where in four seasons he led the team to 86 wins and the school’s first NCAA tournament appearances in 2003 and 2005.

His first head coaching job was at Southern Indiana in 1992 where he compiled a 231-46 record and was named NABC Division II Coach of the Year in 1995 after leading the Eagles to their first Division II national championship.

In 1982, Pearl married Kim Shrigley, a former nurse.

The couple shared four children: Jacqui, Michael, Leah, and Steven.

Among four, sons, Steven Pearl is now his assistant coach at Auburn, and his daughter, Leah, Works for Turner Sports.

However, the couple parted their ways in 2007 after twenty-five years of their marriage.

During post-divorce, Kim hit the headline when she started a salon called Alimony with money she received through a divorce settlement.
