Raghubir Yadav is an Indian actor, music composer, singer and set designer who is known for working in the Hindi film industry. He was born on 25th June 1950 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India.

Raghuvir started her acting career with stage shows and plays. In 1967 he joined Parsi Theatre Company, and with them, Raghubir has performed as an actor and singer in over 70 plays and about 2500 shows. In 1973, he joined Rangoli Puppet Theatre, Lucknow and performed gloves puppet. In 1977, he joined the National School of Drama. There he acted in about 40 plays in over 2000 shows. During this time, he has also contributed to music, sets, costumes and masks.

Later, Raghubir made his film debut in 1985 with Massey Sahib. His performance was highly acclaimed and he won Silver Peacock for the Best Actor Award (Male) at the 11th International Film Festival of India and the FIPRESCI Critic’s Award, Venice for Best Actor. In 1988, he acted in two films, Salaam Bombay! And In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones. His performance in Salaam Bombay! Was highly acclaimed. For his performance, he received Academy Award nominations for Best Foreign Language Film. Disha was his only released film in 1990. In 1991, he acted in the film, Kasba.

Next, In 1992, he made his Kannada film debut with Kubi Matthu Iyala. He also starred in three other Hindi films that year. He was seen in five films in 1993. Bandit Queen, 1942: A Love Story, Udhaar Ki Zindagi and Sardar were his four released films in 1994. In 1995, he acted in Dushmani. Khamoshi: The Musical was his only released film in 1996. In 1997, Raghubir made his Bengali film debut with, Damu. Saaz was his other released film of the year. From 1998 to 2000, he appeared in several films, such as Dil Se.. (1998), Samar (1999) and Bawandar (2000). In 2001, Raghubir acted in film, Lagaan. His performance in Lagaan was highly acclaimed. He again received Academy Award nominations for Best Foreign Language Film. Asoka was another released film of the year.
