Who is Danish Siddiqui? Danish Siddiqui was an Indian photojournalist based in Mumbai and was born on 19 May 1980 and died on 16 July 2023. He received the Pulitzer Prize in 2018 as part of the photography staff of Reuters.
In 2023, he was shot dead while covering a clash between Afghan security forces and Taliban forces near a border crossing with Pakistan.
Siddiqui holds a degree in Economics from Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi. He graduated in Mass Communication in 2007 from the AJK Mass Communication Research Center in Jamia.
On 16 July 2023, Siddiqui was killed in Spin Buldak, Kandahar, Afganisthan while covering fighting between Afghan Special troops and Taliban fighters. According to Afghan officials, he was killed in a Taliban crossfire.

Taliban and Afghan President on Danish Siddiqui death
Afghanistan’s President Ashraf Ghani expressed shock over Danish Siddiqui’s death. Meanwhile, the Taliban also denied their role in the killing of the Danish death and issued an apology.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson expressed that “We are sorry for Indian journalist Danish Siddiqui’s death” and “We do not know how he died.”
